The Homeworld Poems
PART 1:
BIRTH
Waiting to form life.
Growing, expanding,
Preparing for life.
Silence....
The rock strained and
Searched for a reason,
A reason to be,
A reason to exist.
Silence....
The heat of the sun
Molded the rock,
Forged it into a sphere,
Covered with cliffs and cracks.
Silence....
The rock lay in space,
Ready for guests,
Ready to discover itself,
Ready for life.
I'm alive....
PART 2:
LIFE
That's what the rock called itself.
That's what the Guests called it.
I'm Alive....
Evolution,
That's what the rock tried to force,
What the Guests were following.
I'm Alive....
Intelligence,
That's what the rock was trying to achieve.
What the Guests didn't know... yet.
I'm Alive....
Awareness,
That's what the rock at last found.
That's what the Guests finally discovered.
I Exist....
PART 3:
CIVILIZATION
It thirsted for more,
For so much more.
I Exist....
The Earth thought deeply.
It though deeply about
What else there was.
I Exist....
Meanwhile, the Guests got together.
The Guests formed tribes and
Discovered something.
I Exist....
The Guests met, and worked,
And lived, and loved.
They had Unity.
I Exist Alone....
PART 4:
TECHNOLOGY
The Guests developed.
The Guests destroyed.
I Exist Alone....
The Guests built.
The Guests flourished.
The Guests devastated.
I Exist Alone....
Earth needed unity.
Earth needed companionship.
Earth received pain.
I Exist Alone....
The Guests lost respect for the Earth.
The Earth lost respect for the Guests.
The Earth and Guests lost respect for theselves.
I Am In Pain....
PART 5:
EXODUS
They reached up for the stars,
But needed a push to reach them.
I Am In Pain....
The Earth continued to hurt.
It pitied the Guests, but felt its pain...
Pushing them away, after all the eons of nurturing.
I Exist Alone....
The Earth moved that day.
It shook and fire rose up from the ground.
The Guests' ships launched as the pain subsided.
Find Others....
There was no malice...
The pain had left, and in the relief came new life.
The Guests searched far and wide, following Earth's directions.
I Am Content....
The Guests returned one day, older and wiser,
Finding a world unlike that which they'd left.
They carried with them the Friends... and taught them.
